Ari received his MFA in Directing from the AFI Conservatory. He has written and directed several short films – most notably Munchausen (starring Bonnie Bedelia), Basically starring Rachel Brosnahan (Manhattan, House of Cards), and the controversial 30-minute The Strange Thing About the Johnsons. His films have screened at the New York Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, Slamdance, and many others. His novel Sammy Barthowe At Your Service! was a finalist for the Starcherone Prize for Innovative Fiction.
Ari is currently in pre-production on a snowbound horror feature, Hereditary, to be produced by Anthony Bregman’s company Likely Story (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher, etc). Ari is also in development on a psychedelic thriller based on Swedish folklore for B-Reel Features, as well as a dark sci-fi comedy with Animal Kingdom (It Follows).
