Sebastian Mlynarski is a director and cinematographer based in New York and Los Angeles. Growing up in communist Poland, Mlynarski had to settle for shooting his first films in the woods with a cardboard box shoved onto a stick.

After emigrating to the United States at age 14, he spent the first decade of his professional life working as a portrait photographer when he was asked to direct a music video for Miike Snow, one of the bands he photographed.

The video was nominated for a VMA, after which he quickly made his way into documentaries and feature films. His recent music video for Bay Uno – Wait For Your Love won Best Music Video at the Ottawa International Film Festival

He has developed a strong body of work grounded in both narrative and non-narrative storytelling, a strong visual language of bold lighting and framing, and his ability to fuse conventions of beauty with surrealism that subvert our expectations.
